Sinch the Seatbelts now!!

Nascar auto racing has a long history dating back to its origins of moonshining. I suspect that wrecks have been always been a part of Nascar from the very beginning. Many fans of Nascar have always enjoyed the crashes. It is sad but true. The miracle is the relative safety that the drivers of the cars enjoy. They have the leading technology in safety equipment as well as cutting edge designs in the cars built for only two reasons: 1- speed 2- safety. We all benefit in safety advances that come from the experience of the some of the worst wrecks nascar can deliver. In 2008 the boys of Nascar will again be racing toe to toe in the COT (car of tomorrow) cars. We are likely to see some amazing crashes. Hopefully, The new cars will make it so that they (crashes) will not be as bad in years past I have compiled below several videos of some of the worst nascar wrecks I could find in youtube. You may leave me your comment to vote for the worst nascar wreckes.

So now that we have the memories started, what are your most vivid memories of nascar wrecks? In the Michael waltrip crash at bristol, I remeber watching that and seeing the dramatic reaction of Darrell Waltrip. He was positive that his brother was dead, and yet he ran the next day. I also remember watching Richard Petty at Daytona tumbling endlessly down the front straight and then being hit hard after he had finally come back down facing up.

Do you have any personal stories from hometown races that either you were involved in, watched from the stands, or was told about because you were in the race and it happened behind you. Please share your thoughts and watch others as we stroll down memory lane of some of the worst nascar wrecks (cup cars or otherwise).
